How long before hollyhocks bloom?

I have a bareroot hollyhock plant. Can I start it in the house in a container, then replant it outside and how soon will it bloom?

How long before hollyhocks bloom?
From seed to bloom - - two years.
Reply:an established hollyhock usually blooms here in June.. not sure a bareroot will bloom this year at all.. good luck.
Reply:My hollyhocks bloomed the first year, even though they are biennials they drop enough seeds that I have them every year. I have never been successful with starting them in a container, but if you do be sure to run your hand across the plants to toughen them up prior to transplanting outside. I have great luck just planting seeds.
